Our Senior Pastor,
Dr. Curtis J. Mitchell

Dr. Curtis J. Mitchell has been in the gospel ministry for over 30 years. In October 1986, he accepted the call to be the pastor for Antioch Progressive Baptist Church. Dr. Mitchell holds academic degrees from Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana — a Master of Ministry (Summa Cum Laude) and a Doctor of Philosophy.

Dr. Mitchell and the late Mrs. Kay T. Mitchell have four children and four grandchildren. Pastor Mitchell developed Antioch Progressive Baptist Church into a Bible-based, Christ-centered, and Spirit-led church, where the motto is “We Dare To Be Different.”

He has been involved in many facets of community work, such as the Sacramento County Department of Health, the Task Force on AIDS, the Board of Directors of the Goodwill Industries, and the Chief of Police Task Force on Youth Gangs.

Dr. Mitchell also works in many capacities within the American Baptist Churches of the West (ABCW USA). He has been appointed in ABCW as a church consultant for growing healthy churches. His love and concern for people are evident in his preaching, teaching and counseling ministries.

Youth Pastor & Discipleship Pastor,
Rev. Karif Lawrence

Rev. Karif Lawrence is responsible for overseeing several areas within Antioch including our Fellowship ministries and Discipleship program. He lead our youth on the church’s first mission trips to Tecaté, Mexico and New Mexico Indian Reservation. Pastor “K”  as he is called is studying at EPIC Bible College and Graduate School. He is married to his gift from God, Danielle and they have three beautiful daughters.
